Well, today begins with a new blog. This is my third one to date. The others have somewhat fallen by the wayside. Being completely and utterly inspired by Honey Soul's
blog, I've decided to do something that I should've done with all my other relatively failed attempts at blogging...talk about the things that matter to me.
Now, I'm sure that those of you who are kind enough to stop by this site are wondering...well, what the heck matters. Music, first and foremost (which should be evident by the title of this blog...an homage to jazz genius John Coltrane), followed closely by other people's business. So, I'm hoping that this blog will turn out to be a nice balance of the two, while keeping you deeply rooted in my subconscious mind.
Now with that said, allow me to turn your attention to my favorite song at the moment. I am loving Nas'
"Bridging the Gap". Every once in a while, Nas comes out with something that I really love. He'd been missing as of late. "I Can" was just played out (eventhough it was a good motivational tool for the kiddies), and I really can't remember anything after that, but this latest release is pretty decent. Performing with his father Olu Dara, he does exactly what the song title implies...bridges the gap. The song is completely infused with blues while Nas flows effotlessly over the beat. It's definitely worth a listen. It's something refreshingly different from the hip hop mundane.
I find myself being absolutely intrigued by the Jay-Z/R. Kelly drama. Now, according to an article on Lee Bailey's
EURWEB, Jigga's homie was arrested for the ALLEGED pepperspray incident. I say "alleged" because even though homeboy has been charged, I fail to believe anything that R. Kelly says nowadays.
